Liverpool seemingly receive a major boost ahead of facing Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Tuesday night.

Liverpool have seemingly been handed a major injury boost ahead of facing Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night.

The Merseyside giants head into the showdown at Anfield holding a 1-0 advantage secured from the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie at Parc des Princes.

Harvey Elliott scored the only goal of the game on that occasion, netting with his first touch as a substitute having witnessed Liverpool somehow keep their French hosts at bay.

On Saturday afternoon, Liverpool were forced to work harder than anticipated in order to secure a 3-1 win over Southampton to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to 15 points.

Arne Slot had to call upon players from the substitutes' bench that he may have hoped to rest given the busy schedule and players having recently spent time on the sidelines.

Liverpool handed Gakpo boost

Cody Gakpo was one of the players to miss that fixture through injury, Slot revealing at a press conference last week that the Netherlands international was still suffering with "a bit of pain".

However, the versatile attacker was in a position to return to training on Monday to seemingly put himself in contention for the upcoming match.

Over the past month, Gakpo has made just the two substitute appearances, the most recent of which came in the 2-0 win over Newcastle United on February 26.

Nevertheless, it appears that the 25-year-old may be able to take his spot in the squad - presumably on the bench - on Tuesday night.

Gakpo will be looking to add to the 25 starts and 13 substitute outings that he has made this campaign, chipping in with 16 goals and five assists.

Duo to miss out

While Gakpo could feature against PSG, there is said to have been no sign of Conor Bradley and - as expected - Joe Gomez in training as they recover from their respective injuries.

Bradley has not made an appearance since February 19 due to a muscle injury, while Gomez recently underwent hamstring surgery in a bid to return before the end of the season.

Liverpool also head into the PSG encounter with five players walking a disciplinary tightrope ahead of a potential quarter-final tie.
