Fulham out to end 77-year wait for winning feat in Brentford Premier League clash

Fulham will have the chance to achieve a winning feat for the time in 77 years when they face West London rivals Brentford on Sunday.

Fulham will have the chance to complete a league double over Brentford for the first time in 77 years when they meet in Sunday's derby clash at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The Cottagers have their work cut out to seal an eighth-placed finish and potential European qualification after hitting a poor run of form at the crucial stage of the season.

Marco Silva's side have lost four of their previous five Premier League matches, including a 3-1 defeat in last Saturday's home meeting with Everton.

As a result of their poor form, Fulham are now sitting in 11th place in the standings and four points adrift of Brentford in eighth position, which will become a European qualification spot if Chelsea win the Conference League and finish in sixth or seventh spot.

Fulham looking to end 77-year wait in Brentford fixture

Fulham will be desperate to close the gap to the Bees in Sunday's West London derby, especially as they have the chance to complete a league double over Brentford.

The Cottagers are looking to beat Brentford twice in the same league season for the first time since achieving the defeat in the second tier in 1947-48.

In the reverse fixture, Harry Wilson scored twice in stoppage time to claim a narrow 2-1 victory in November's fixture at Craven Cottage.

However, their hopes of completing a league double may be tempered by the fact that they have won just one of their previous five Premier League away matches (L4).

Fulham's away struggles against Brentford

Fulham have also found life difficult in their recent trips to Brentford, having failed to win their last four away encounters since they recorded a 2-0 victory in November 2016 (D3, L1).

In fact, the Cottagers are still searching for their first-ever Premier League away victory over their West London rivals.

They fell to a 3-2 defeat in their first top-flight away meeting with Brentford in March 2023, before they had to settle for a goalless draw in last season's trip to the Gtech Community Stadium in May 2024.

Fulham will head into Sunday's derby clash without the injury quartet of Timothy Castagne, Reiss Nelson, Harrison Reed and Rodrigo Muniz.

Meanwhile, left-back Antonee Robinson and midfielder Sasa Lukic are both doubts, with late decisions set to be made over their availability.
