Preview: Everton Women vs. Brighton & Hove Albion Women - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday's Women's Super League clash between Everton Women and Brighton & Hove Albion Women, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Two points separate Everton Women and Brighton & Hove Albion Women before Sunday's meeting at Walton Hall Park.

The hosts are sitting in eighth place in the Women's Super League table, while the visitors head into the weekend in sixth position.

Everton are three points away from equalling last season's tally after winning five, drawing five and losing nine of their 19 league matches this season.

The eighth-placed Toffees will have aspirations of achieving a top-half finish for the second time in three seasons, with two points separating them from their sixth-placed opponents.

They may have won just one of their last four matches, but the Toffees will head into Sunday's fixture off the back of a 1-1 draw against Manchester City after Karen Holmgaard cancelled out Kerstin Casparij's early opener.

Since that hard-fought draw, Everton have announced that head coach Brian Sorensen has signed a new deal to keep him at the club until the summer of 2027.

The Toffees boss will be hopeful of celebrating his new contract with a win, given the fact that they have won four of their previous six WSL home matches (D1, L1).

Brighton may be sitting two points above Everton, but they will be low on confidence after losing each of their last three matches since beating Tottenham Hotspur on March 16.

The Seagulls fell to a 3-2 away defeat against Leicester City, before they lost 2-1 in back-to-back home games against Manchester City and Liverpool.

Michelle Agyemang scored in the early stages of the second half to halve the deficit in last Saturday's meeting with Liverpool, but Brighton were unable to push on for an equaliser as their winless home run stretched to five league matches.

Meanwhile, their away record will not inspire too much confidence, having lost six of their previous seven WSL away games (W1).

They can at least draw inspiration from the fact that they eased to a 4-0 home victory in September's reverse fixture against the Toffees, which came courtesy of a Kiko Seike hat-trick and a Fran Kirby penalty.

Team News

Everton are unable to call upon the injured quartet of Megan Finnigan, Louna Ribadeira, Aurora Galli and Inma Gabbaro.

Maren Mjelde and Lucy Hope remain unavailable for selection after they missed the draw with Man City due to injury.

Kelly Gago was also absent from last Sunday's contest, but Sorensen is hopeful that she will be able to return in time for the weekend.

As for the visitors, defender Jorelyn Carabali and forward Madison Haley may have their work cut out to prove their fitness for Sunday's fixture.

Maria Thorisdottir was a notable absentee for the defeat to Liverpool, making her a doubt for the upcoming trip to Walton Hall Park.

Defender Poppy Pattinson will drop out of the squad to serve a one-match suspension for an accumulation of yellow cards.

Everton Women possible starting lineup:
Ramsey; K. Holmgaard, Fernandez, Stenevik, S. Holmgaard; Snoeijs, Ladd, Hayashi, Wheeler; T. Payne, Gago

Brighton & Hove Albion Women possible starting lineup:

We say: Everton Women 3-1 Brighton & Hove Albion Women

Everton have won four of their previous six home league games, and we think that the Toffees will enjoy another successful home outing when they face a Brighton side that have lost six of their previous seven WSL away matches.
