Real Madrid injury, suspension news vs. Barcelona: Rodrygo, Antonio Rudiger, Ferland Mendy, David Alaba updates

Sports Mole looks at Real Madrid's injury and suspension news ahead of the La Liga clash with Barcelona.

Real Madrid will be aiming to keep their La Liga title hopes alive when they head to Barcelona on Sunday afternoon.

Los Blancos recorded a 3-2 victory over Celta Vigo in Spain's top flight last weekend, and they are currently second in the La Liga table, four points behind the leaders Barcelona with four games left.

Carlo Ancelotti's side therefore need to claim all three points in El Clasico to give themselves a realistic chance of moving above the Catalan giants in the final exchanges of the campaign.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's injury and suspension news ahead of their fixture with Barcelona, who will enter the match off the back of a defeat to Inter Milan in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Rodrygo

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: May 11 (vs. Barcelona)

Rodrygo missed out against Celta last weekend due to illness, but the Brazil international is expected to have recovered in time to make the squad for the league fixture with Barcelona.

Dani Carvajal

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: June 18 (vs. Al-Hilal)

Real Madrid remain without the services of Carvajal due to the severe knee injury that the right-back suffered in the clash with Villarreal back in October, but the Spaniard has made excellent progress in his recovery, and a return for the Club World Cup is thought to be a possibility.

Eder Militao

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: June 18 (vs. Al-Hilal)

Real Madrid centre-back Militao damaged his ACL during a La Liga clash with Osasuna back in November, but he is now back on the training field, and a return for the Club World Cup is thought to be on the agenda.

Ferland Mendy

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: June 18 (vs. Al-Hilal)

Mendy's season is over due to the rupture in his right thigh that he suffered against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final, but the France international has a chance of being involved in the Club World Cup, which starts in the middle of June.

David Alaba

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Alaba is currently working to be fit for the start of the 2025-26 campaign, with his season ending when it was revealed that he had suffered a meniscus injury in his left knee, which will require an operation.

Eduardo Camavinga

Status: Out
Type of injury: Adductor
Possible return date: Unknown

Camavinga suffered an adductor injury in the latter stages of Real Madrid's game with Getafe, and the France international has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign, while he is also set to miss the Club World Cup.

Antonio Rudiger

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: June 18 (vs. Al-Hilal)

Rudiger will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing an operation to fix the meniscus tear in his left knee, but he would have been absent regardless, having been handed a six-match ban for throwing an object at the referee during the Copa del Rey final.

The experienced centre-back has a chance of being available for the Club World Cup.

REAL MADRID'S SUSPENSION LIST

As mentioned, Rudiger will be banned for the remainder of Real Madrid's La Liga season, in addition to their first match of the 2025-26 campaign, following his red card in the Copa del Rey final.
