Manchester United reportedly agree personal terms with Sporting Lisbon's Geovany Quenda ahead of a potential move to Old Trafford.

Manchester United have reportedly agreed personal terms with Sporting Lisbon's Geovany Quenda, as the Red Devils look to make the teenager their first signing of this summer's transfer window.

Quenda, 17, has been in excellent form for Sporting during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring twice and registering seven assists in 38 appearances in all competitions, including one assist in nine outings in the Champions League.

The Portuguese was given his first-team breakthrough by now Man United head coach Ruben Amorim at Sporting, and it is understood that the manager is desperate for a reunion in Manchester this summer.

It had recently been claimed that a £50m deal for Quenda had already been agreed - that has been denied by journalist Ben Jacobs, but it is understood that personal terms have been agreed, with the two clubs currently looking to settle on a transfer fee.

"The player has agreed verbally personal terms. He's waiting to see if the clubs pre-agree, or wait until the summer," Jacobs told talkSPORT.

"The price that Manchester United are looking at is €40m (£33m). Sporting want €60m (£50m), there's a release clause of €100m (£83m).

"If Manchester United can get this one done south of €60m (£50m), not only a good signing now and for the future, and a player Ruben Amorim knows really well, but potentially a deal that they can get without being forced, as they did with Rasmus Hojlund, to pay more than they ideally want to do.

"He is keen specifically on Manchester United... fans can be very excited, he's quick, he's intelligent, he's got good movement off the ball.

"He can play deeper as a right wing-back, right-wing, there's some goals output that will improve with age, he's very creative and intuitive, and Ruben Amorim will value that kind of player."

There is also believed to be interest from the likes of Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain in Quenda, but Man United are seemingly in a strong position to secure his signature during this summer's transfer window due to the Amorim connection.

Where would Quenda play for Man United?

Quenda operated as a right-sided wing-back under Amorim at Sporting, but he has largely been playing on the left in recent weeks, demonstrating his versatility.

The youngster came through the Sporting academy as an attacker, meanwhile, boasting nine goals and seven assists in 24 matches for the Under-23s, so he could potentially move forward on a consistent basis later in his career.

Amorim desperately needs specialists in the wing-back areas; Patrick Dorgu was signed from Lecce over the summer and has made an encouraging start to his Old Trafford career, but another player in that position is required, and Quenda has the potential to develop into one of the best players in European football in the coming years.
