Manchester United reportedly slash the asking price of one of their unwanted attackers to £40m as they struggle to drum up interest in his services.

Manchester United have allegedly reduced their asking price for Alejandro Garnacho by as much as £30m as they struggle to drum up serious interest in the Argentina international.

Garnacho was told by Ruben Amorim at the end of last season to find a new club, allegedly in front of the rest of the squad after their Europa League falling out.

The rift between manager and player stemmed from Amorim leaving Garnacho out of the starting lineup against Tottenham Hotspur in the continental final, a decision that the winger's brother and agent criticised on social media.

Amorim allegedly told Garnacho that he had better 'pray' he could find a new club this summer, and barring a spectacular turnaround, he has played his final game in a Man United shirt.

The 21-year-old is thought to be keen to remain in the Premier League rather than try his hand at a different league, ruling out a switch to one of Barcelona, Napoli or Atletico Madrid in the summer window.

However, Man United's original asking price of £70m proved prohibitive, and according to The Mirror, the Red Devils will now only ask for £40m to let the South American depart in the current window.

As Garnacho's stock has "fallen so low", Man United will accept almost less than half of their original asking price to rid themselves of the 21-year-old, who is not expected to be called up to their USA pre-season tour.

The 'massive drop' in Man United's demands may lead to renewed interest from European clubs, and Premier League rivals Chelsea were formerly believed to have been pursuing Garnacho's services this summer.

The Blues have strengthened their wide ranks with the signing of Jamie Gittens, though, while RB Leipzig's Xavi Simons is also higher on their attacking shortlist than Garnacho.

Instead, another European-competing Premier League club has apparently emerged as the number one contender for Garnacho, who has produced 26 goals and 22 assists in 144 appearances for the Red Devils across all competitions.

Garnacho is just one of four unwanted attackers that the Red Devils are trying to shift this summer, but the club are on the brink of getting Marcus Rashford's wages off the books for another year.

The England international is understood to have completed his medical ahead of a loan move to Barcelona, who will have an option to make the deal permanent for £26m, and he has already been filmed in Catalonia.

Jadon Sancho and Antony's camps are also busy searching for new landing spots, and the former is thought to be a genuine target for Nottingham Forest and Juventus, but there has been no breakthrough with either club yet.

Meanwhile, Real Betis are struggling to bring Antony back to La Liga, but the Brazilian has supposedly caught the eye of a pair of Premier League teams.
