Aiming to avoid three straight defeats at the top level of Brazilian football, Ceara face off against minnows Mirassol in the Brasileiro on Wednesday night.
Vozao have suffered a pair of narrow losses most recently ahead of their return to home soil, whilst Leaozinho are continuing to defy the odds in the top flight.
Match preview
After two years of troubles and struggles in Serie B, Ceara managed to claw themselves back into Brasileiro at the conclusion of the 2024 campaign, finishing in the final promotion spot in the second tier, ahead of fifth place on goal difference.
As a result, it is not a surprise to find that Vozao could be dragged into a relegation battle during the 2025 season, with Wednesday night's hosts enduring back-to-back defeats over the past week, seeing them slip down the top-flight rankings.
Both of the losses have arrived against sides directly above and below them in the table, with Ceara bested by 10th-placed Corinthians last Wednesday night before coming out on the wrong end of a 1-0 scoreline at the base of 12th-placed Internacional on the weekend.
Only four points away from the danger zone, Vozao will need to continue their impressive defensive record at home if they wish to prevent an immediate return to Serie B, with Ceara conceding just four goals across seven league matches at the venue - only title-chasing Flamengo (1) have let in fewer on home soil.
On a season-long loan deal from Corinthians, Pedro Raul has found his goalscoring touch after a couple of challenging campaigns at the likes of Deportivo Toluca and Vasco de Gama, with the 28-year-old netting 12 times across 23 competitive matches in 2025 to date.
Battling away in the darkness of Serie D and Serie C as recently as 2020 and 2022 respectively, Mirassol have enjoyed a meteoric rise to the main stage of Brazilian football, and Wednesday night's visitors to Ceara are refusing to just make up the numbers.
During their first-ever Brasileiro campaign, Leaozinho are currently in the midst of a six-match unbeaten streak, earning a convincing 3-0 success over relegation-threatened Santos on Saturday evening courtesy of second-half strikes from Chico, Reinaldo and Cristian Renato.
Collecting a highly-commendable tally of 14 points across their last six top-flight matches, Mirassol have moved up to seventh in the Brasileiro rankings after 13 contests in 2025, four points behind sixth-placed Bahia and five points behind Palmeiras in the lowest of the Copa Libertadores spots.
With only a third of their 21 points snatched on the road this campaign, Leaozinho supporters will not be demanding maximum points in Ceara this week despite their side's excellent recent form, with the visitors winning just one of their seven league outings so far.
That being said, Mirassol have managed some eye-catching results away from their fortress during their current unbeaten stretch, defeating city rivals Sao Paulo 2-0 on May 24 before sharing the honours with Club World Cup-competing Palmeiras on July 16.

Team News
Ceara remain without the services of winger Fernandinho, who picked up a muscle injury against Corinthians last week, with the 28-year-old expected back in August.
The hosts are also unable to call upon the talents of centre-back Luiz Otavio, with the veteran yet to feature for Vezao this season.
Despite keeping a solid clean sheet last time out, Mirassol will make a change to their backline due to the red card picked up by centre-back Joao Victor.
Jemmes will require a new partner at the heart of defence, with right-back Daniel Borges potentially set to fill in more centrally on Wednesday night.
Leaozinho also have a pair of injury problems in their ranks in the form of Leo Gamalho and Matheus Sales, who are both targeting returns at the end of this month.
Ceara possible starting lineup:
Bruno; Silva, Marllon, Machado, Bahia; Lima, Diego, Galeano, Araujo, Henrique; Raul
Mirassol possible starting lineup:
Walter; Ramon, Borges, Jemmes, Reinaldo; Danielzinho, Neto, Chico; Negueba, Gabriel, Carioca
We say: Ceara 0-0 Mirassol
Despite their recent defeats, Ceara should still be a tough nut to crack on home soil, especially considering their impressive defensive record.
Mirassol are not the same beast on the road and could struggle to break down the stubborn hosts, leading to a share of the points.
