Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly making progress in their effort to sign right-back Marc Pubill.
Head coach Vitor Pereira has recently expressed his frustration at only making one senior signing during the summer transfer window.
That is partly a consequence due to both of his first-choice wing-backs - Nelson Semedo and Rayan Ait-Nouri - leaving for pastures new.
Nevertheless, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Wolves are hopeful of finally getting a deal over the line for Pubill from Almeira.
Romano claims that there is an agreement with both the player and club, the expectation being that a transfer will be finalised during the next 48 hours.
The 22-year-old has contributed two goals and six assists from his 63 appearances in an Almeira shirt, while he has a total of 34 outings in La Liga during his career.
Last summer, Pubill made five starts as Spain won the Olympic Games, including featuring for 73 minutes in the final against France.
Man United to loan out goalkeeper
Meanwhile, Manchester United have confirmed that they have loaned out goalkeeper Elyh Harrison to Shrewsbury Town.
With Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir the clear first two goalkeepers in Ruben Amorim's squad, United's academy players naturally become options for EFL clubs.
Harrison, who is 19 years of age, kept seven clean sheets in 18 National League North fixtures for Chester FC during the first half of 2024-25.
The England Under-20 international has now been given the chance to make an impression in League Two with Shrewsbury Town.
Although Harrison will be making a considerable step up, he has already racked up 21 appearances for United in Premier League 2.
As it stands, Harrison is in line to compete with Toby Savin, who made 18 League One outings last season, for the number one spot.
Everton targeting ambitious move for Japan international
Back in the Premier League, Everton are allegedly interested in negotiating a deal for Real Sociedad playmaker Takefusa Kubo.
Ahead of the move to the new stadium, Everton have already made a number of new additions and negotiated several new contracts.
However, David Moyes remains eager to make major signings to his squad in a bid to challenge for a top-half finish in the Premier League.
According to TEAMtalk, the Toffees have enquired about the availability of Kubo, looking to capitalise on Real Sociedad having no European football on their calendar for next season.
As it stands, the La Liga outfit are said to want to keep the Japan international, despite him only contributing seven goals and two assists from 47 outings in Spain's top flight and the Europa League in 2024-25.
A likely stumbling block is Real Sociedad's current valuation, said to be in the region of £34.6m.
