Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong reportedly passes his Liverpool medical, as Reds head coach Arne Slot responds to question over imminent transfer.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot remained coy when he was asked about Jeremie Frimpong's medical following Monday's defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Reds are on the verge of signing Frimpong as a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is set to leave when his contract expires at the end of the season, before joining Real Madrid on a free transfer.

Liverpool have activated the €35m (£29.4m) release clause in the Dutchman's Bayer Leverkusen contract and have reached an agreement to sign him on a five-year deal.

It was previously reported that the Netherlands international was set to complete his medical on Monday after he underwent the first part on Sunday.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Frimpong has now passed his medical ahead of his imminent move to the Premier League champions.

Slot responds to Frimpong question

While it is only a matter of time until Frimpong is unveiled as a Liverpool player, Slot was reluctant to divulge any details when he was asked whether the 24-year-old had undergone a medical.

"What do you think?" Slot told the media. "I think what we all know is the moment we announce it, that is the moment to talk about it in general. We haven't announced anything so no need to talk about anyone."

Frimpong is set to leave Leverkusen after scoring 30 goals and providing 44 assists in 190 competitive appearances.

The Man City academy product will have to adapt to playing in a back four after playing as a wing-back under Xabi Alonso at Leverkusen.

Could another full-back follow Frimpong to Anfield?

With Alexander-Arnold set to depart, Slot should be able to call upon Frimpong and Conor Bradley as his two main right-back options for the 2025-26 campaign.

Liverpool could also bring in a new face on the left side of defence, with the Reds believed to be advancing in talks to sign Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.

Kerkez would provide serious competition to Liverpool's current first-choice left-back, Andy Robertson, who could see his playing time decrease if the Hungary international joins this summer.

There is a belief it could cost up to £45m to sign a player who is under contract with Bournemouth until the summer of 2028.
