Liverpool reportedly reject a player-plus-cash bid from another Premier League club for Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

Liverpool have reportedly rejected a bid from Nottingham Forest for goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

Forest have made several additions during the summer transfer window, including David Carmo, Nikola Milenkovic, Elliot Anderson, Jota Silva, Marko Stamenic, Eric da Silva Moreira and Alex Moreno.

They have also brought in a new goalkeeper, recruiting Carlos Miguel from Corinthians following the departure of Odysseas Vlachodimos.

Miguel made his Forest debut in Wednesday's penalty-shootout defeat against Newcastle United in the second round of the EFL Cup.

The Brazilian is the backup option to first-choice goalkeeper Matz Sels, while USA international Matt Turner is currently Nuno Espirito Santo's third-choice shot-stopper.

Forest fail with Kelleher bid

Despite having three goalkeepers in their squad, Forest have made an attempt to sign Kelleher before Friday's transfer deadline.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool have rejected Forest's player-plus-bid for the Republic of Ireland international.

The report claims that the proposed deal would have seen Turner move in the opposite direction, but Forest ultimately failed to match Liverpool's valuation.

There is a belief that Liverpool value the goalkeeper in the region of £25m to £30m, with the Irishman under contract until the summer of 2026.

Liverpool keen to retain Kelleher's services

While Liverpool may have an asking price in mind, they are reluctant to part ways with Kelleher before the transfer deadline.

Reds boss Arne Slot is seemingly counting on Kelleher to be Allison Becker's deputy for the duration of the season.

However, the 25-year-old is understood to be keen to become a number-one goalkeeper after showcasing his undoubted ability at Anfield.

Kelleher will be aware that he is unlikely to be a first-choice option at Liverpool following the recent signing of Giorgi Mamardashvili.

The Georgia international has returned to Valencia on a season-long loan deal, before he links up with his Liverpool teammates next summer.

Kelleher has made 47 competitive appearances for the Reds since graduating from the club's academy system.
