Barcelona have announced that teenage sensation Lamine Yamal has signed a new long-term contract extension at the club.
The 17-year-old was due to see his original contract expire in June 2026, but he has now committed his future to the Catalan giants by putting pen to paper on a new six-year deal that runs until the summer of 2031.
A statement from Barcelona released on their official website read: "The player signed his new contract on Tuesday at the club's offices in the presence of FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta, first vice president Rafa Yusta, and the club's sporting director Anderson Luis de Souza "Deco", amongst others.
"A contract extension for Lamine Yamal is another demonstration of the solidity of the current Barca project.
"The Barca forward made his debut for the first team on 29 April 2023, at the age of just 15 and since then the lad from Mataro near Barcelona has exploded on to the stage that is world football with performances that are already part of FC Barcelona history."
According to The Athletic, Yamal will become Barcelona's highest-paid player, earning just shy of €40m (£33.5m) including salary, bonuses and signing-on fee a year before tax, if he achieves all the performance-related bonuses in his new deal - around 50% of this will be paid in tax, in line with Spanish regulations.

Yamal could become highest-paid player at Barca
Yamal's contract is also understood to contain an eye-watering release clause worth €1bn (£840m), as did his previous deal signed in 2023 shortly after he had made his first-team debut aged just 15.
In addition, ESPN claims that on top of a significant pay increase, the La Masia academy graduate will also earn a sizeable bonus if he wins the prestigious Ballon d'Or award.
Yamal, who has been tipped to take the iconic No.10 shirt if current occupant Ansu Fati laves this summer, has already played a leading role in several important victories for club and country in his fledgling career.
The 2024 Golden Boy and Kopa Trophy winner, who also celebrated Euro 2024 glory last summer, does not turn 18 until July, but he has already made 106 senior appearances for Barcelona in all competitions - in compassion, Lionel Messi played just nine times for Barca before turning 18.
Yamal is indeed the youngest player ever to make 100 appearance for the Catalan giants, as well as youngest ever goalscorer in La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Supercopa de Espana, while he became the youngest-ever player to represent the Spain national team (aged just 16) in 2023.
The La Masia academy graduate has contributed with a total 25 goals and 34 assists for Barca since making his debut, with 18 goals and 25 assists recorded across 55 games in 2024-25 to help Hansi Flick's side win the La Liga title, Copa del Rey and Supercopa de Espana, as well as reach the Champions League semi-finals.
His new contract comes just under a week after Flick extended his deal until the summer of 2027, while experienced goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is believed to be the next in line to sign an extension.
