Preview: Kasimpasa vs. Istanbul Basaksehir - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday's Turkish Super Lig clash between Kasimpasa and Istanbul Basaksehir, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Istanbul Basaksehir will be the guests of Kasimpasa when they clash at the Recep Tayyip Stadyumu in their week 36 Turkish Super Lig fixture this weekend.

The hosts are ninth in the table with 46 points, 11 away from the relegation zone, while the visitors will continue their quest for European football.

Kasimpasa come into this fixture off the back of a 3-0 win over Eyupspor in their last league outing, extending their unbeaten streak to three games.

With that outcome, the Apaches took a step closer to securing another season of top-flight football, but they will be looking to make sure of that this weekend.

However, having gone 11 points clear of the relegation zone, Burak Yilmaz's men will not go into this fixture under pressure, as another victory or at least a draw will confirm their place in next season's Super Lig.

Yilmaz's team have been simply unbeatable on their home turf, having gone nine games without a loss at the Recep Tayyip Stadyumu since December 2024.

Nevertheless, up against a Basaksehir side that are unbeaten in the last nine Super Lig meetings between both sides, the home side have their work cut out.

The visitors come into this contest after suffering a crushing 4-1 defeat against Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce last weekend.

With three rounds remaining, the visitors sit fifth in the standings with 51 points across 33 matches.

The Grey Owls have won five of their last seven matches to tighten their grip on the Conference League second qualifying spot.

On the road, Cagdas Atan's team have won six matches this term, with three of those victories recorded in their last five away fixtures.

Only one point above Eyupspor, who are breathing down their neck for the sole Conference League second qualifying spot, the visitors cannot afford to leave anything to chance.

Team News

Kasimpasa have a few injuries to deal with ahead of this clash, as central defender Nicholas Opoku, Sadik Ciftpinar and Gokhan Gul are all ruled out for this fixture on Sunday.

In the middle of the park, Aytac Kara is set to continue alongside Haris Hajradinovic, Mamadou Fall and Mortadha Ben Ouanes.

Istanbul Basaksehir will have to cope with the absence of Ousseynou Ba due to injury, with Jerome Opoku expected to continue in the heart of the defence.

Midfielder Onur Ergun is also sidelined, which means Ivan Brnic should keep his position in the starting XI.

Krzysztof Piatek, who is the leading marksman for the away side with 21 goals, should lead the line again on Sunday.

Kasimpasa possible starting lineup:
Gianniotis; Espinoza, Piatkowski, Ozcan, Rodrigues, Fall, Cafu, Hajradinovic, Ben Ouanes, Kara; Da Costa

Istanbul Basaksehir possible starting lineup:
Sengezer, Operi, Duarte, Opoku, Sahiner; Gunes; Brnic, Kemen, Crespo; Sari, Piatek

We say: Kasimpasa 1-1 Istanbul Basaksehir

Kasimpasa have been a tough nut to crack for visiting teams, but given the healthy record of a nine-game unbeaten streak, this game could go either way, which is why we are backing both sides to play out a 1-1 draw.
