Thousands of fans took to the streets of Liverpool on Monday to celebrate the club's Premier League triumph.

As per BBC News, the collision took place around 10 minutes after the Liverpool team had passed by on their open-top bus.

In a statement, Merseyside police said: "We were contacted at just after 18:00 today, Monday 26 May, following reports a car had been in collision with a number of pedestrians on Water Street. The car stopped at the scene and a male has been detained."

At a press conference on Monday evening, the North West ambulance service confirmed that 27 people had been taken to hospital, with two people, including a child, sustaining serious injuries. Another 20 people were treated at the scene and did not require hospital treatment.

Chief Fire Officer of Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, Nick Searle, revealed that three adults and one child had to be lifted from beneath the car and were passed to the ambulance service.

Merseyside Police's Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims stated that the incident is not being treated as terrorism related and they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
