Sports Mole previews Thursday's Brasileiro clash between Bragantino and Bahia, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

The hosts are third in the table and just a point adrift of top spot, while the visitors are seventh in the league standings.

Bragantino had a deeply disappointing 2024 Brasileiro Serie A campaign, narrowly securing their survival in the league as they finished 16th and just two points above the drop zone.

They have superbly bounced back at the beginning of this term, managing seven wins, two draws and just two defeats from their 11 league games thus far.

Those results leave them with 23 points - already more than half of last term's tally - and sitting third in the table, just a point behind league leaders Flamengo.

Fernando Seabra's side will be aiming to maintain their early-term title race, and with three successive victories heading into this one, Bragantino will be full of confidence.

Bragantino will also look to their strong record against Bahia, having dominated their home meetings with eight wins and one draw in the last nine encounters at their stadium.

Bahia are sure to prove challenging opposition, though, as the visitors have enjoyed a positive start to the league season with five wins, three draws and three defeats.

Those results leave Bahia placed seventh in the table with 18 points, meaning they trail the top six sides in the Copa Libertadores positions on only goal difference.

However, their form has become rather inconsistent in recent weeks, with Bahia recording four wins and suffering six defeats in their last 10 outings.

That is a considerable downturn in comparison to their run of just one defeat in the 18 matches prior, and they will be eager to secure a victory as they aim for a return to that form.

Team News

Bahia manager Rogerio Ceni pictured on May 5, 2023

Bragantino are unable to call upon the services of Agustin Sant'Anna, Douglas Mendes, Fernando, Henry Mosquera, Lucao and Pedro Henrique for this match due to injury issues.

Eric Ramires and Guilherme Lopes are also doubts for the hosts after the pair come off with suspected injury problems in their recent 2-0 win against Vasco de Gama, meaning Fabinho and Nathan Mendes could start.

The hosts will be boosted by the potential return of Lucas Barbosa, who is available for selection after serving a one-game suspension.

As for Bahia, Erick, Iago, Rezende and Kanu are all unlikely to feature due to ongoing injury issues, while the remainder of the squad should be available.

Willian Jose has scored four goals in his last five appearances, and the striker could lead the line against Bragantino on Thursday.

Bragantino possible starting lineup:

Cleiton; Hurtado, Eduardo, Capixaba, Mendes; Gabriel, Fabinho; Vinicinho, Sasha, Jhon Jhon; Pitta

Bahia possible starting lineup:

Felipe; Gilberto, Duarte, Mingo, Juba; Ribeiro, Alexandre, Lucas; Ademir, Jose, Pulga
