Still reeling from a Wembley gut punch against Premier League-bound Sunderland in the 2024-25 Championship playoff final, Sheffield United will soon commence their latest bid to return to the promised land of English football.
The Blades must now contend with fellow fallen foes Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town in 2025-26, although they should still be considered one of the top contenders to book their spot in the top flight for the 2026-27 campaign.
However, they will do so without long-serving head coach Chris Wilder, whose position has been succeeded by Ruben Selles, who has overseen a remarkably quiet start to the summer transfer window so far.
Apart from a few youth prospects moving on to other clubs and Vinicius Souza leaving for Bundesliga side Wolfsburg in a £13m deal, it has been a relatively subdued summer for the Blades.
Joining at Bramall Lane are 20-year-old forward Ehije Success Ukaki, signing from Bulgarian club Botev Plovdiv in a deal worth approximately £500,000, while Tyler Bindon has arrived temporarily from Premier League side Nottingham Forest for the 25-26 season.
