Chloe Kelly's historic 119th-minute goal sees England into the final of the Women's European Championships with a 2-1 win over Italy in the semi-finals.

Chloe Kelly's historic 119th-minute winner saw England Women complete another astonishing Women's Euro 2025 comeback as the defending champions beat Italy Women 2-1 to reach the final.

A Lionesses record was equalled before kickoff, as Lucy Bronze matched Jill Scott's all-time high of 35 major tournament appearances, but the right-back had a first half to forget.

Bronze was partially at fault as Barbara Bonansea fired in the opening goal just after the half-hour mark, and a sluggish England were failing to truly trouble the Azzurre defence.

That was until Sarina Wiegman's substitutes saved the day again, though, as following her heroics against Sweden, Arsenal teenager Michelle Agyemang astoundingly levelled for the holders five minutes into second-half injury time.

The 19-year-old then came within inches of a wonderful winner only to see her lob strike the crossbar, but that mattered little, as Chloe Kelly's 119th-minute penalty rebound - and the latest goal in Women's Euros history - propelled the Lionesses into the showpiece event.

SPORTS MOLE'S VERDICT

All the drama Mick. I just love it.

As England just failed to get the rub of the green on Tuesday night, it seemed for a brief moment that they used up all of their good fortune in their scintillating comeback against Sweden.

Yet, when the Arsenal girls are on the bench, anything is possible for the never-say-die Lionesses, who simply refuse to accept that they could lose their grip on their European crown.

Kelly could have easily hung her head in despair after her penalty miss, but the 27-year-old did what all predatory attackers do, and her continental heroics know absolutely no bounds.

However, while great escapes are all well and good, another lacklustre start against Germany or Spain may finally prove fatal.

ENGLAND VS. ITALY HIGHLIGHTS

Barbara Bonansea goal vs. England (33rd min, England 0-1 Italy)

Once again, the Lionesses are going to have to do it the hard way.

Italy captain Cristiana Girelli cannot quite connect with a cutback from the right flank, but the slightest of touches deceives Bronze, and Bonansea smashes the ball into the roof of the net at the back stick.

Michelle Agyemang goal vs. Italy (90+5 min, England 1-1 Italy)

Never in doubt.

A Lauren Hemp cross into the corridor of uncertainty is not well dealt with by Laura Giuliani, who spills the ball at the feet of Agyemang.

The 19-year-old's first touch takes her slightly wide, but she nevertheless produces a wonderful low finish through a sea of bodies to miraculously save England's bacon!

Chloe Kelly goal vs. Italy (119th, England 2-1 Italy)

The most inconsequential missed penalty the Women's Euros will ever see.

Wiegman's champions are awarded a last-gasp spot kick as Emma Severini hauls down Beth Mead, and there is no doubt whatsoever in the referee's mind.

Giuliani guesses correctly to keep out Kelly's penalty, but the Arsenal forward is alert to crash home the follow up and send England into the final!

PLAYER OF THE MATCH - MICHELLE AGYEMANG

England Women's Michelle Agyemang celebrates on July 22, 2025

When the going gets tough, rely on a perpetually unfazed 19-year-old to bail you out of trouble, and Arsenal starlet Agyemang deserves all of the plaudits and then some once again.

The striker's composed finish in such a high-pressure moment was taken with the aplomb of a veteran striker, and she came within inches of an astounding winner when her late lob struck the crossbar; not that it mattered in the grand scheme of things.

WHAT NEXT?

If you can believe it, a second straight Euros final awaits for an elated England side, who will now put their feet up to watch Germany vs. Spain tomorrow evening.

One player who will certainly have at least one foot up is Lauren James, though, as the Chelsea winger came off with an ankle problem at a half time tonight and is an early doubt for the final.

For an inconsolable Italy side, the Azzurre have agonisingly missed out on a first Women's Euros final this turn of the millennium, having not reached the showpiece match since finishing as runners-up in 1997.
