Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Manchester City could line up for Saturday's Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest.

Manchester City will be without at least four players for Saturday's Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

Nathan Ake underwent successful surgery on a fractured foot earlier this week after aggregating the issue in City's 3-1 FA Cup fifth-round win over Plymouth Argyle last weekend. The defender is now facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines along with Manuel Akanji (abductor) and John Stones (thigh).

Rodri has begun individual training after more than five months out with an ACL injury, but he also remains unavailable for selection, while it remains to be seen when Oscar Bobb (ankle/fitness) will make his long-awaited first-team return.

Pep Guardiola made 11 changes to his starting lineup for the win over Plymouth and is therefore set to make mass alterations once again this weekend, with goalkeeper Ederson poised to replace Stefan Ortega between the sticks.

Guardiola will weigh up whether to stick with Rico Lewis at right-back or recall Matheus Nunes, while Abdukodir Khusanov and Ruben Dias are the most likely duo to link arms in central defence as Josko Gvardiol starts on the left side of a four-man backline.

Mateo Kovacic was rested completely against Plymouth and could therefore return in midfield alongside Nico Gonzalez. Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan are also in contention to start in the middle of the pitch.

Phil Foden will be pushing for a recall either in the number 10 role or out wide and could return at the expense of Kevin De Bruyne, who contributed to all three of City's goals against Plymouth (one goal, two assists).

Jeremy Doku and Savinho have posed a constant threat down the flanks in recent Premier League games and could both start again against Forest, while Omar Marmoush will hope that he can operate in an advanced central role in behind striker Erling Haaland, who has 20 PL goals to his name this season.

Manchester City possible starting lineup: Ederson; Lewis, Khusanov, Dias, Gvardiol; Gonzalez, Kovacic; Savinho, Marmoush, Doku; Haaland
