Al-Hilal head coach Jorge Jesus confirms that he wants Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah at the club next season.

Al-Hilal head coach Jorge Jesus has confirmed that he wants Mohamed Salah at the club next season.

There remains ongoing speculation surrounding Salah's future, as the Egypt international's contract with Liverpool is due to expire this summer, and there are currently no signs that he will be penning a fresh deal at Anfield.

Salah has been in outstanding form for Liverpool during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring 26 goals and registering 18 assists in 34 appearances in all competitions, and he could potentially lead the Reds to a treble this season.

However, the forward has hinted on a number of occasions in recent months that he will be leaving the Reds this summer, having been unable to come to an agreement over a new contract.

Al-Hilal are believed to lead the Saudi Arabian interest, and Salah would become one of the best-paid players in world football with a high-profile switch to the Saudi Pro League at the end of the campaign.

Liverpool are yet to agree a new contract with Salah

"I would like to have Salah at Al-Hilal, he has a way of playing that fits the team," Jesus told Canal11.

Former Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren, who is close friends with Salah, has also fuelled exit rumours by claiming that the forward is "closer to leaving than to staying".

"I think he's closer to leaving, he's closer to leaving than to staying at the moment," Lovren told WinWin. "I know what I feel, I hope everything will turn, I honestly hope for the best.

"In the end, it's for the money, but he's worth it, much more than the money. Who will you replace him with? That would be the first question if I was in the club. I think you would have to pay £200m to replace him."

Could Salah really leave Liverpool this summer?

Salah has been one of the best players in world football this season, with his numbers extraordinary, and it is incredibly difficult to imagine Liverpool being prepared to let him leave on a free transfer.

The forward is approaching the latter stages of his career, but he is capable of putting up impressive numbers for a few seasons yet, and Liverpool will not be able to replace him this summer with a player that is anywhere near his standard.

It is therefore a huge risk considering the amount of match-winning moments that he has provided this season, but there is a genuine chance that the Egyptian will be on his way to the Saudi Pro League.

Al-Hilal are seeking a replacement for Neymar, and Salah could be the latest high-profile player to leave a major European league in order to make the switch to the Kingdom Arena.
