Chelsea defender Renato Veiga has reportedly entered talks with Atletico Madrid regarding a possible move to La Liga.
The 21-year-old could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge this summer, with the Spanish giants and Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich known to be keen.
Veiga signed for £12m from Swiss outfit Basel last summer and played 18 matches for Chelsea during the first half of the 2024-25 campaign.
The Portugal international made his biggest impact for the Blues on the continental stage, featuring in eight Conference League matches.
However, Veiga was loaned out to Juventus for the second half of last season, playing in a variety of defensive and midfield roles for the Old Lady.
Chelsea man Veiga enters Atletico Madrid talks?
After a six-month stint in Italy, Chelsea outsider Veiga is heading towards a high-profile switch to La Liga, according to The Standard.
The report claims that Atletico Madrid have opened discussions with the representatives of the young defender regarding a possible transfer to Spain.
Diego Simeone's troops have supposedly moved their attentions onto Veiga after failing to secure a deal for Tottenham Hotspur enforcer Cristian Romero.
It is understood that the Portuguese centre-back is keen on a move to Madrid despite only signing for Chelsea before the start of last season.
Enzo Maresca's side are said to be hoping to seal a significant profit on Veiga, who is reportedly valued at £34.6m by the Club World Cup winners.
No way back for Veiga?
Despite a useful temporary spell at Italian giants Juventus this calendar year, there appears to be no way back into Maresca's Chelsea plans for Veiga.
The 21-year-old was left out of the Blues' Club World Cup squad, staying in England while his teammates battled to glory in the United States.
There are a whole host of names ahead of Veiga in the defensive pecking order, including Levi Colwill, Tosin Adarabioyo and Benoit Badiashile.
