Three Premier League stars set for a breakout season

Sports Mole takes a look at three young stars who could have a breakout season in this year's Premier League campaign.

In the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Bruno Fernandes, Virgil van Dijk and Harry Kane, the Premier League plays host to plenty of global stars that will look to continue grabbing headlines for their respective sides in the new season, but without the funds to bring in established names, certain sides will hope to benefit their young prospects this year, just as punters can from Betfred withdrawal times.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at three of the young stars that could have breakout seasons to help propel their sides to a strong campaign.

Valentino Livramento

A member of the new breed of players departing top clubs on permanent deals for game time, Livramento left Chelsea for Southampton in the summer after featuring heavily for the London giants' youth sides, being crowned as European champions' Academy Player of the Year, as he starred for a Blues Under-23s side that finished second in Premier League 2, despite the exciting full-back only being 18 years old.

It did not take him long to catch eyes, as his immense ability on the ball saw the London-born right-back put up several impressive dribbles in the Saints' second league game of the season, a 1-1 draw with Manchester United as many touted him as the Saints' star player.

Despite facing tough competition from Kyle Walker-Peters on the right-hand side of the defence, we can only see Livramento earning plenty of minutes in the top flight thanks to a strong start on the South Coast, and his ability to carry the ball down the flank could be pivotal if the Saints are to steer clear of relegation this year.

Billy Gilmour

Far from an unknown name despite his slender age of 20 years old, Billy Gilmour has already announced himself at the top level with a series of impressive performances for Chelsea under the management of Frank Lampard, before the appointment of Thomas Tuchel last season saw his opportunities dwindle in the first-team scene.

After shining at this summer's Euro 2020 tournament with Scotland, including a Man of the Match performance in a goalless draw with England, newly-promoted Norwich City swooped in to capture the midfielder on a season-long loan deal, and he has big shoes to fill after Tottenham Hotspur loanee Oliver Skipp played a crucial role in their promotion.

Having already delivered two impressive performances, despite the Canaries suffering heavy defeats at the hands of Liverpool and defending champions Manchester City, Gilmour could thrive in East Anglia with a side that trusts him with a key role and plays to his strengths with the ball, as he looks to show Chelsea his ability to stand out at the top level.

Harvey Elliott

Having become the youngest player to play in the Premier League at 16 years and 30 days in a relegated Fulham side, exciting winger Harvey Elliott earned a move to Liverpool in the summer of 2019, and played around the fringes of the side in his first campaign at Anfield.

Elliott was then loaned out to Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers last season, and he shone in the second tier with seven goals and 11 assists in 41 league appearances, helping the Rovers to a 15th-placed finish before returning to Merseyside.

Jurgen Klopp's reluctance to add a new attacker this summer could certainly be seen as the German putting his trust in Elliott, who was handed his first Premier League start for the Reds at the age of 18 in the second game of this season, playing the full 90 minutes in a 2-0 win over Burnley at Anfield.

We back the versatile attacking talent to continue cementing himself in the first-team squad this season, with Klopp seemingly unwilling to let him out on loan again, instead trusting the Englishman as a key component of his attacking ranks.
