Burnley have announced that they have completed the signing of Sporting Lisbon winger Marcus Edwards.
The former Tottenham Hotspur youngster has previously progressed into one of the top-performing Englishman on the continent in recent years through his performances for the Portuguese giants.
A total of 24 goals and 26 assists have been contributed from 120 appearances in all competitions, Edwards also winning a Primeira Liga title.
However, the 26-year-old has been restricted to just three starts and six substitute outings this campaign under several different head coaches, including Ruben Amorim who has since moved to Manchester United.
That has allowed Championship promotion contenders Burnley to step in and secure a loan deal for the playmaker until the end of the season.
We are delighted to confirm the signing of forward Marcus Edwards from Sporting CP on loan until the end of the season 🤝

Welcome to Burnley, Marcus 🟣🔵
A familiar face in Parker
Although the pair never played in the same team, Edwards is familiar with Burnley head coach Scott Parker from their time at Tottenham Hotspur, Edwards then in the youth team when Parker was in the senior ranks.
Speaking to the club's official website, Edwards said: "It feels amazing. Burnley is like a Premier League club. I'm really happy to be here.
"I know Scott from my time at Spurs. I know what he's like. He's ambitious, he's driven. We had a good relationship back then so when I knew he wanted me to come that was enough for me.
"From knowing what he's like and how he is and the fact that Burnley is such a big club in general. It made sense.
"The main thing now is to get promoted back to the Premier League. I'm coming here to try and get myself into the team. I hope we can make it over the line this season and I hope Burnley fans will enjoy watching me play too."
Edwards is joining a Clarets side that are currently sitting in third place in the Championship table, five points adrift of leaders Leeds United.
With Burnley hosting Oxford United on Tuesday night, Edwards will hope to feature in the squad for the fixture at Turf Moor.
