Ralf Schumacher believes his nephew, Mick Schumacher, has a genuine shot at securing a Formula 1 return with Cadillac's new team in 2026.
Mick, the son of F1 icon Michael Schumacher, was present at the Miami Grand Prix, where several drivers vying for Cadillac's two 2026 race seats also appeared.
Notably, Mick also attended the nearby launch of Cadillac's F1 brand identity, describing it as "a very exciting topic and an exciting project".
While Sergio Perez, Valtteri Bottas, Guanyu Zhou, and Colton Herta are more prominently linked to the seats, Ralf Schumacher expressed optimism about the 26-year-old's prospects.
"The Cadillac issue is now on the table," he told Sky Deutschland.
"Mick's advantage is that he would quickly find his way back to Formula 1 without having to do a lot of testing," added Ralf, the younger brother of Michael Schumacher. "He knows the current cars very well."
Mick served as Mercedes' full-time reserve driver in 2023 and 2024 but has shifted full focus to the World Endurance Championship with Alpine in 2025.
Former F1 driver Timo Glock also endorsed Mick, stating: "Mick would definitely be at the top of my list."
Ralf highlighted the particularly chaotic driver market at the moment, noting: "What's happening in Formula 1 at the moment is almost unbelievable." He pointed to recent changes, such as Jack Doohan being replaced by Franco Colapinto at Alpine for at least the next five races, as evidence of a volatile environment where Mick could capitalise on opportunities for a comeback.
