Preview: French Open: Mirra Andreeva vs. Lois Boisson - prediction, head-to-head, tournament so far

Sports Mole previews Wednesday's French Open quarter-final between Mirra Andreeva and Lois Boisson, including predictions, head-to-head and their tournament so far.

Back in another French Open quarter-final, Mirra Andreeva seeks to end Lois Boisson's fairytale run in Paris and reach another semi-final at the Grand Slam.

The 18-year-old defeated Daria Kasatkina in straight sets, improving her career record in the French capital, where she faces a home player aiming to take down another top-10 opponent after upsetting Jessica Pegula on Monday.

Although Andreeva needed to dig deep on Monday, the teenage sensation secured victory over practice partner Kasatkina, progressing to another quarter-final in Paris.

Last year's run concluded in the semi-finals, and the Russian player is just one win away from trying to rectify the disappointment of falling to Jasmine Paolini 12 months ago.

First, the young talent must overcome Boisson in the last eight to match last year's result in Paris, where Monday's victory elevated her record to 11-2 overall at the Grand Slam.

Defeating Kasatkina 6-3, 7-5 in one hour and 34 minutes means Andreeva has advanced to this stage without dropping a set, and another similar result will see the 18-year-old into consecutive semi-finals.

Having become the youngest women's player to reach consecutive quarter-finals at Roland Garros since Martina Hingis in 1997 and 1998, this rising star seeks a 12th win in Paris to set up a semi-final contest with Coco Gauff or Madison Keys.

Despite entering Wednesday's semi-final as the favourite, advancing to the last four will be easier said than done for the Russian player, who faces tournament debutant Boisson.

The world No. 361 tore her ACL in her left knee last year, missing out in Paris, but the 22-year-old has thrived in 2025, highlighted by outlasting two seeded opponents en route to the quarter-final.

While defeating No. 24 seed Elise Mertens in round one was promising, overcoming world No. 3 Pegula in three titanic sets that lasted two hours and 40 minutes stands as the biggest win of the debutant's career.

The reward for emulating Mary Pierce's 2002 feat as the first wild card to reach a French Open quarter-final is a match-up against another seeded player in Andreeva, whom she will face for the first time.

Backed by the home crowd, the lowest-ranked player to reach this stage in Paris in 40 years seeks another upset victory to add to her impressive four wins at the tournament.

With three of Boisson's four matches so far going the distance, the battle-hardened Frenchwoman will be confident of another contest against an opponent four years her junior.

Head To Head

Mirra Andreeva and Lois Boisson will meet for the first time on the women's tour, with the victor taking a 1-0 lead in their head-to-head.

The teenager holds an 11-2 career record in the French capital, while the home player is 4-0 in Paris on her tournament debut.

Having defeated a top-10 player for the first time, Boisson seeks a second victory over another elite opponent.

We say: Andreeva to win in two sets

Backed by a supportive home crowd, Boisson's fairytale run after her injury struggles has delighted observers en route to her maiden appearance at the Grand Slam.

However, Andreeva stands as a formidable contender in these parts, and the teenager is expected to end the Frenchwoman's heart-warming run in Wednesday's last-eight match to reach another semi-final in Paris.
