Tottenham Hotspur confirm the £1m sale of Josh Keeley to Luton Town, and decisions regarding a sell-on clause and buyback clause are already revealed.

Tottenham Hotspur have sold 22-year-old goalkeeper Josh Keeley to Luton Town in a deal worth a reported £1m.

The Lilywhites were understood to have been in talks to extend Keeley's contract following his successful loan spell with Leyton Orient in the 2024-25 season.

With Keeley in between the posts, the O's reached the League One playoff final - losing to Charlton Athletic at Wembley - and also gave Manchester City a good run for their money in a 2-1 FA Cup defeat.

However, Spurs and Keeley ultimately could not come to an agreement over a new deal, and the 22-year-old will now continue his career in the third tier with Luton.

"I moved to Spurs when I was 19, but there comes a time in your career that it’s time to move on – and that time is now, so it’s time to kick on and I can’t wait to get started," Keeley told LTFC+.

According to journalist Alasdair Gold, Spurs will receive a fee of £1m for Keeley, who leaves the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium without making a single senior appearance for the club.

Gold adds that the Europa League winners have also agreed a sell-on clause for the shot-stopper, but they did not insert a buyback clause into his Luton contract.

"Josh is a young, agile, athletic goalkeeper who had a great season last year in League One," Luton manager Matt Bloomfield added.

“He is an excellent shot-stopper and can play out from the back and sweep up behind the defence. We’re pleased to acquire a goalkeeper of his potential who already has plenty of experience.

“To be able to add someone of Josh’s pedigree and quality to the club is a real statement. He’s someone of big potential that we’re excited to add to our group."

Who else could Spurs sell in summer transfer window?

Keeley is just the second Spurs player to be sold for a fee this summer after Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg's Marseille loan was made permanent, while Damola Ajayi and Alejo Veliz have departed on temporary deals too.

More sales are anticipated before the summer window slams shut on September 1, particularly in attack, as Manor Solomon and Bryan Gil seemingly have no futures in North London.

Furthermore, Richarlison has been heavily linked with a move to Turkey or South America, while Son Heung-min's situation remains uncertain as he runs down the final year of his contract.

Spurs boss Frank was quizzed on both Son and Cristian Romero in Friday's press conference, as the Dane prepares to take charge of the club for the first time in Saturday's friendly battle with Reading.
