Nottingham Forest have reportedly identified a Galatasaray attacker as a potential summer transfer target.
The East Midlands outfit currently find themselves in limbo on two fronts as Crystal Palace battling to regain their Europa League place and the transfer saga involving Morgan Gibbs-White plays out.
However, Nuno Espirito Santo remains in a position where he is eager to strengthen his first-team squad, particularly in the final third when Anthony Elanga and Ramon Sosa have already left the City Ground.
While Igor Jesus has arrived from Botafogo, there is a growing need for more attacking players to be signed prior to the start of 2025-26.
According to Turkish journalist Yakup Cinar, who was speaking on the Yeni Acik YouTube channel, Forest are preparing to make a bid for Baris Yilmaz.
Forest planning big-money Yilmaz offer
Cinar claims that Forest are willing to pay at least £21.67m for a player who has starred in Galatasaray's two title-winning campaigns since 2023.
He said: "West Ham and Aston Villa wanted Barış Alper Yılmaz during the mid-season break.
"I recently spoke with his agent, Tuncay Maldan. Nottingham Forest is preparing to make a €25-30 million offer to Galatasaray for Barış Alper Yılmaz."
The versatile attacker contributed 12 goals and three assists from 32 Super Lig matches last season.
Furthermore, he has 25 goals and 20 assists from his 156 appearances for the Turkish giants, those numbers being recorded for a period of four seasons.
There are three years remaining on Yilmaz's contract.
Will Galatasaray accept Yilmaz offers?
Having featured on 48 occasions last season, it is clear that the 25-year-old is in the plans of head coach Okan Buruk.
On the flip side, Galatasaray are allegedly attempting to sign Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson and Napoli forward Victor Osimhen in deals that would also bring with it a substantial increase to the wage bill.
Generating a significant fee for Yilmaz would be of considerable benefit to Galatasaray with regards to UEFA's financial regulations going forward.
