Bryan Mbeumo's Manchester United medical date is reportedly revealed as the Red Devils close in on a £71m deal for the Brentford attacker.

Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo is reportedly set to undergo his Manchester United medical on Saturday as he prepares to complete his £71m switch to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils' lengthy pursuit of the Cameroon international is finally about to bear fruit, as the two clubs reportedly shook hands on a transfer fee on Friday after two failed bids from Man Utd.

The 20-time English champions are expected to pay an upfront fee of £65m for the former Troyes attacker, and Brentford could pocket another £6m in performance-related add-ons.

Mbeumo, meanwhile, has given the green light to a five-year contract until the end of the 2029-30 season, with an option to extend by an additional 12 months.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the versatile attacker will now complete his medical examinations on Saturday ahead of his official contract signing and unveiling at the Theatre of Dreams.

Romano adds that the 'main formal steps' of Mbeumo's move should soon be completed, as the 25-year-old prepares to follow Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon to the red half of Manchester.

Regardless of whether all add-ons are hit, Mbeumo will become Brentford's most expensive sale of all time, trumping the £36.4m that Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli paid for Ivan Toney last summer.

The Cameroonian departs the Gtech Community Stadium having registered 70 goals and 51 assists in 242 appearances for Brentford, who are also making a major profit on the £5.6m they paid Troyes for his services in 2019.

Mbeumo scored 20 Premier League goals under Thomas Frank in the 2024-25 campaign and did not miss a single top-flight game for Brentford last season; he also featured in all 38 games in 2022-23.

The winger will not be signed in time to make his debut against Leeds United on Saturday, but he is expected to be a part of Man United's pre-season tour of the USA later this month.

Man United have won the race for Mbeumo's services despite reported interest from Spurs, whose new head coach Frank was supposedly keen to bring the Cameroon international to North London with him.

However, even though Tottenham can offer Champions League football and Man United are not competing in any continental tournament next season, Mbeumo always had his heart set on joining the Red Devils.

Frank was asked about Mbeumo's impending transfer in Friday's press conference, and the Dane had nothing but kind words to say about and to his former winger.

"Bryan [Mbeumo], of course, is a fantastic player. I have been with him for five years," Frank said. "I think he deserves the move, no matter where he goes. And as a player, I wish him all the best when you've been with a player for so long."

Mbeumo's move is likely to proceed a plethora of exits from Old Trafford, as Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Marcus Rashford are all seeking moves elsewhere.
