Brentford head coach Thomas Frank has said that he would be interested in speaking with Manchester United Christian Eriksen about a return to the club on a free transfer this summer.
The Denmark international has made 28 appearances for the Red Devils this season, scoring four goals and registering four assists in the process, but his contract is due to expire at the end of June, and a new deal is unlikely.
The 33-year-old is therefore set to become available on a free transfer, and Brentford boss Frank has opened the door for a potential move back to the Bees for the experienced midfielder.
"A lot can get lost in translation. Of course the question came up about Christian Eriksen because he is a very important player for Denmark, and they know the connection between Christian and I," Frank told reporters after initially being asked about Eriksen by Danish media earlier this week.
"Christian is a very good player, and we are always open to very good players to join us. What he will do in the future, I don't know. What we will do in the future, I don't know. Let's see.
"I think it's fair to say he has had his years in the Premier League so maybe he would want to try another league. Or go back to where it started, in Ajax. Let's see."

Brentford boss Frank opens door to Eriksen reunion this summer
Eriksen had an implantable cardioverter defibrillator device fitted after suffering a cardiac arrest while representing Denmark at Euro 2020, which saw him leave Inter Milan on a free transfer in December 2021.
The midfielder made the move to Brentford in January 2022, and a successful period saw him score once and provide four assists in 11 appearances for the Bees.
Frank's side attempted to sign Eriksen to a new contract, but he left to make the move to Man United, and he has represented the 20-time English champions on 100 occasions, scoring seven goals and registering 17 assists in the process.

Eriksen wants to continue his career in Europe
The midfielder recently said that he is planning to continue his career in Europe, but he has seemingly ruled out a move to another Premier League club.
"In my head, I'm prepared to find something new," Eriksen told TV2 last month. "What that will be is not something I've decided yet.
"I haven't heard anything, and when I don't, I assume that the collaboration stops. That's how I interpret it. Everyone knows that the contract expires, so I figure there's only one way [it will go].
"The intention is not to stay in England. I am not going to the USA - we are not going that far. We would like to stay in Europe, but it is too early to go home to Denmark. I feel like I have some good years abroad left."
Eriksen started his career at Ajax before moving to Tottenham Hotspur in 2013, and he represented the North London club on 305 occasions before making the switch to Inter.
