A number of Premier League clubs are reportedly monitoring any developments with the future of Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay.

A number of Premier League clubs are reportedly contemplating whether to make a move for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay.

Since being handed his debut by Jose Mourinho, the academy graduate has gone on to make 129 starts and 43 appearances for United in all competitions.

The Scotland international has often being preferred by a number of different managers, either ahead of alongside Brazilian teammate Fred.

However, the pending arrival of Casemiro from Real Madrid could have a detrimental effect on the 25-year-old's career at Old Trafford, the Los Blancos man already familiar with featuring alongside his compatriot.

McTominay was also dropped from the side for last weekend's 4-0 defeat at Brentford, although that may have only enhanced his reputation rather than it taking a further hit.

Nevertheless, according to 90min, McTominay is unlikely to be short of offers should he be given the green light to leave the Theatre Of Dreams.

The report suggests that Newcastle United and West Ham United may be at the front of the queue for the player should there be any developments with regards to his future.

The Magpies are lacking a player in the middle of the pitch due to the long-term hamstring injury of Jonjo Shelvey, while David Moyes may want one more option in that area to challenge Declan Rice, Tomas Soucek and Flynn Downes.

The same outlet adds that Leicester City, Everton and Southampton could also make their own bids if McTominay, who has three years left on his contract, is placed on the market.

Much will depend on how United approach the rest of the transfer window with McTominay potentially only being relegated to third choice in terms of combative midfielders.

The likes of Donny van de Beek and James Garner are regarded as different types of player, the latter also being linked with a move away.

While United are known to hold an interest in Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong, that transfer should be shelved with United committing to such a large financial outlay to bring Casemiro to the club.

However, funds and space on the wage bill could be freed up if United are able to part ways with a number of defenders who do not feature in the plans of Erik ten Hag.
