Man United 'make major Alejandro Garnacho decision' ahead of summer transfer window

Manchester United will allegedly once again be open to selling forward Alejandro Garnacho during this summer's transfer window.

Manchester United will reportedly once again be open to selling Alejandro Garnacho during this summer's transfer window.

The 20-year-old was heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford during the winter market, with both Napoli and Chelsea believed to have been interested in securing his signature.

Napoli are thought to have had a £40m offer rejected, with Man United looking for at least £55m, while Chelsea did not submit an official bid despite having a firm interest in the Argentina international.

Any sale of Garnacho would count as pure profit under the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability rules, with Man United needing to make some difficult decisions this summer to ensure that they comply with the financial regulations.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, after being open to a sale in January, it is likely that Man United will have a similar stance during the summer, with Garnacho potentially leaving Old Trafford ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

"There's still a feeling, even though it'd be a reluctant sale, that Alejandro Garnacho is a player that, on the books, could be very valuable, and in the same way that Manchester United would have considered a sale in January, it will be the case again for financial reasons in the summer too," Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT.

Man United 'willing to listen to Garnacho offers this summer'

Garnacho has been one of Man United's most productive forwards during a tough season, scoring eight goals and registering six assists in 39 appearances in all competitions, but he has only managed three goals and one assist in the Premier League.

The forward's suitability for Ruben Amorim's 3-4-3 system continues to be a discussion point, and he was dropped to the bench for Saturday's Premier League clash with Everton at Goodison Park.

"There are some games that are different and we want different things in the same position, so that's all. Garnacho will be ready for the next game and it's a good thing to be disappointed," Amorim told reporters when explaining his selection call.

"Like I've said, we have a lot of games and in modern football you don't have a starting XI. It's really hard, especially now.

"We have a squad that we have to rotate the players, so I imagine the game and then I imagine the characteristics of the players, to try to win the game. Today I thought the game in a different way to have Garnacho on the bench to change something."

Will Rashford, Antony, Casemiro leave Man United this summer?

Jacobs is also expecting Marcus Rashford, Antony and Casemiro to leave Man United during this summer's transfer window.

Rashford and Antony were sent on loan to Aston Villa and Real Betis respectively in January, but Casemiro remained at the club, and the Brazilian has started his team's last two Premier League matches.

"There's an appreciation, whether it's Aston Villa or elsewhere, that Marcus Rashford will leave the club permanently in the summer. The same may be the case for Antony. There will be offers potentially for Casemiro, a player Manchester United would be willing to get off the wage bill," he added.

Both Rashford and Antony have impressed for their loan clubs since their arrivals, with the former having two assists in four appearances for Unai Emery's side, while the latter has three goals and one assist in five outings for Real Betis.
