Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits that his side "fell away" against Southampton on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that his side "fell away" in the latter stages of Sunday's Premier League clash with Southampton.

Che Adams's deflected effort sent the Saints ahead in the first period before Mason Greenwood levelled the scores in the early stages of the second half at St Mary's.

Man United were unable to find a second, though, and struggled in the latter stages, with Southampton having opportunities of their own to secure all three points.

Speaking after the match, Solskjaer admitted that his side 'did not play particularly well' in the closing stages of the contest.

"The team fell away and in the last 15 minutes we didn't play particularly well," Manchester Evening News journalist Samuel Luckhurst quotes Solskjaer as saying.

Man United, who have four points from their first two league matches of the season, will be looking to return to winning ways in England's top flight when they travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers next Sunday.
