Liverpool will be looking to break an all-time Premier League winning record when they face Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa on Tuesday night.

Jurgen Klopp's men were forced to play out a 1-1 draw at home against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, a result which has seen them slip three points behind league leaders Manchester City, who won 5-0 against Newcastle United on Sunday.

The Reds, however, will be confident of returning to winning ways against Villa on Tuesday, as they are yet to drop a single point against teams starting the day in the bottom half of the table this season, winning all 18 matches by an aggregate score of 52-4.

Should Liverpool claim maximum points against 11th-placed Villa, they would become only the second team in Premier League history, after Manchester United in 2006-07, to claim maximum points in 100% of their games against bottom-half club in a single campaign.

Liverpool have won seven of their last eight top-flight encounters against Villa, but their did suffer a surprise 7-2 defeat at Villa Park last season.

The Reds, who beat Gerrard's men 1-0 at Anfield in December's reverse fixture, would move back to the top of the Premier League on goal difference if they were to win by at least four or more goals on Tuesday.
