Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Aston Villa attacker Morgan Rogers.
The 22-year-old featured for the Villans in the Black Country on Wednesday night, when they lost 1-0 at League Two outfit Walsall.
Joining from Championship side Middlesbrough in 2024, Rogers was signed for £15m by Villa and it is fair to say that the club's investment has paid off.
The England international netted eight goals and provided 10 assists in the Premier League last season as Unai Emery's side qualified for the Europa League.
Making his debut for the Three Lions under Lee Carsley in November 2024, Rogers is now targeting a spot at the World Cup next year.
Chelsea make Rogers top priority?
According to The Sun, Chelsea have decided their transfer priorities for the remainder of the summer trading point ahead of the new season.
The report claims that the Blues have made Aston Villa youngster Rogers their main target for the rest of the transfer window.
It is understood that the Villans value the 22-year-old at £80m, but it remains to be seen whether the Blues are willing to pay such an amount.
It is believed that the Second City club are keen on working out a deal for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, who played under Emery previously at Villarreal in Spain.
However, it is said that any deals involving Rogers and Jackson will be separate of each other owing to financial-based reasons.
Rogers has big decision to make
With less than a year left until the World Cup, it is likely that Rogers makes the England squad if he enjoys another eye-catching term at Villa.
However, the lure of Club World Cup winners Chelsea is strong and a switch to Stamford Bridge could be on the cards this summer.
If Rogers spends the 2025-26 on the Blues bench, though, he can wave goodbye to any hopes of competing in North America with the Three Lions.
