Hungarian giants Ferencvaros kick off their new season with a second round Champions League qualifying game against Armenia’s FC Noah this Tuesday night.
While the Greens are looking to reach the main draw of a major European competition for the seventh year running, Noah are competing in their maiden Champions League qualifying campaign.
Match preview
Reaching the Europa Conference League main draw last season was a monumental achievement for Noah – a club that has only been around for eight years.
During their first taste of European action, the club tasted the highs of a maiden 2-0 league phase victory over Mlada Boleslav but also the lows of an 8-0 thrashing at the hands of Chelsea.
Noah not only made European history last season, but they also stormed to their maiden Armenian league title and their national cup victory.
The club will also be buoyed by their 3-2 aggregate victory over Montenegro’s Buducnost Podgorica in the first Champions League qualifying round.
While Noah are relative newbies to the football industry, Hungarian giants Ferencvaros have been around since the 1800s.
For the Greens, Tuesday’s match will mark their first competitive outing of the new season, as the Hungarian champions look to make an early impact in the Champions League.
Manager Robbie Keane led his men to the knockout stage of the Europa League last season, picking up wins over Nice, Dynamo Kyiv, Malmo FF and AZ Alkmaar along the way.
The former Leeds United, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool striker took his side to the knockout phase but could not find a way through Viktoria Plzen, losing 3-1 on aggregate.
Having wrapped up the league title and reached the Hungarian Cup final in his first six months at the club, Keane is certainly making a name for himself in the managerial game.
The Irishman will now be looking to mastermind a successful Champions League qualifying campaign and take the club to the main draw of the competition for the first time since the 2020-21 season.

FC Noah possible starting lineup: Cancarevic; Sualehe, Silva, Muradyan, Hambardzumyan; Eteki, Grgic, Pinson, Omar; Boakye, Gregorio

We say: FC Noah 1-1 Ferencvaros
Noah have already played competitive football this season, and they will certainly fancy their chances on home soil.
Ferencvaros, on the other hand, are heading into their first competitive test of the campaign, and there may be some rustiness following the summer break. With that in mind, we are backing a draw.
