Arsenal are reportedly still finalising a move to recruit Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres following a well-publicised transfer saga.

Arsenal are reportedly still have work to do to finalise a transfer for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres.

The Gunners are keen to recruit a prolific number nine after being left light on forward options last season, following injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz.

Arsenal have spent the summer being linked with RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko and Sporting's Gyokeres, before seemingly settling on the latter as their preferred target.

It was reported at the weekend that Arsenal had reached an agreement with Sporting over a £55m fixed fee for the Sweden international.

However, according to Sky Sports News, the Gunners are yet to reach a total agreement with the Portuguese giants over the complete package of the transfer.

Arsenal are allegedly 'still finalising' the deal, with the two clubs negotiating the final details before the transfer can be made official.

The current discussions are focusing on the conditions of the £8.5m add-ons that are expected to be included in the final deal.

While the final details are being ironed out, it still appears to be a matter of time before Gyokeres becomes the latest member of Mikel Arteta's squad.

Arsenal want Gyokeres for pre-season tour

Arsenal are keen to bring a swift end to negotiations so Gyokeres can play some part in the club's upcoming pre-season tour of Asia.

The squad are set to depart on Saturday for the first leg of their tour in Singapore, which includes friendlies against AC Milan and Newcastle United.

Arsenal will then travel to Hong Kong to face North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on July 31.

The Gunners will then return to London for their final two matches of pre-season against La Liga's Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao.

Arsenal will hope that Gyokeres can get as much time as possible to work with his new teammates before they kick off the Premier League season against Manchester United on August 17.
