Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Jamie Vardy is unavailable to play against PSV Eindhoven on Thursday night.
The Foxes will face the Dutch side in the Europa Conference League quarter-final first leg, but they will be without their experienced striker due to injury.
Vardy has scored 12 goals in all competitions this season, and the club had hoped he was going to be fit for this fixture, however that is not going to be the case.
"He is not available. It is hard to put a timeline on it, he can still feel pain in the knee. It is just when he is striking the ball there is an issue, so we have to try to get to the bottom of that," Rodgers told the press.
"I just had a quick chat with Jamie, he had been outside and he had been running in straight lines, but when he was opening up the MCL, when he was striking the ball, he had a little bit of pain in that.
"I will have to speak with the medical team to see where that is at. It does not sound as if he is too close to being back."
The 35-year-old has been out of action since Leicester faced Leeds United on March 5, when he sustained his knee injury.
