Nottingham Forest reveal that they will continue to be backed financially by the estate of late chairman Nigel Doughty until the end of next season.

Nottingham Forest have confirmed that they will be financially supported by the estate of their late owner Nigel Doughty until the end of next season.

The former Reds chairman, who bought the Midlands club in 1999, was found dead in the gym of his Lincolnshire home in February, aged 54.

"We are very pleased to announce that the club will have the financial support of Nigel Doughty's estate through to next season while we are seeking a new owner," said Forest chief executive Mark Arthur.

"This will enable management and players to focus completely on the task of retaining our place in the Championship for the 2012-13 season."

Doughty is estimated to have put over £100m of his own fortune into funding the Championship strugglers.
