Napoli are active in the transfer market in search of reinforcements for the wings and are now weighing up new options after encountering difficulties in negotiations with Bologna for Dan Ndoye.
According to the Italian press, Manchester City's Jack Grealish and Liverpool's Federico Chiesa have emerged as alternatives for Antonio Conte's side.
The Neapolitan club have already confirmed the signing of Dutch winger Noa Lang, formerly of Club Brugge and PSV, as part of a wider overhaul of their attacking options. However, the board believe a further addition is needed to bring more pace and creativity on the flanks in line with Conte's tactical demands.
Napoli's priority remains Switzerland international Dan Ndoye, who impressed at Bologna last season. However, the Emilia-Romagna outfit have proven resolute in their stance, having already rejected an offer from Nottingham Forest. Talks with Napoli have yet to yield a breakthrough.
Grealish and Chiesa emerge as Napoli targets
With negotiations stalling, Napoli are considering more ambitious targets in the international market – including two high-profile yet somewhat peripheral figures in the Premier League.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport, the club are now weighing up potential moves for Grealish and Chiesa.
Grealish, who joined Manchester City for a record fee in 2021, has struggled to find consistent form under Pep Guardiola. City could consider allowing him to leave if a convincing offer is presented, but the deal would likely involve a substantial transfer fee and salary, complicating matters for the Serie A side.
Chiesa's situation may be more favourable. The Italian forward joined Liverpool last season from Juventus but is facing uncertainty at Anfield. Gazzetta reports that he has been left out of the Reds’ pre-season tour of East Asia, suggesting he may not feature in Arne Slot’s immediate plans.
Conte is said to be keen on reuniting with Chiesa, having worked with him during his time in charge of the Italy national team. Their previous relationship could help facilitate a potential transfer. Notably, Chiesa was already linked with Napoli towards the end of last season.
Napoli are aiming for a measured rebuild ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, building on last season’s Serie A title success. The arrivals of Kevin De Bruyne and Lang are part of that process, and further additions are expected in the coming weeks.
