Already-relegated Southampton will endeavour to put a dent in Manchester City's Champions League pursuit when they square off at St Mary's in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The Saints are guaranteed to finish rock bottom of the table after they suffered their 28th league defeat of the season to 19th-placed Leicester City, losing 2-0 away from home last weekend.
As for the Citizens, they have put together a nine-game unbeaten run in all competitions, most recently beating Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 on home soil, and they sit third in the table, three points above Nottingham Forest in sixth spot.

Southampton and Manchester City have faced each other a total of 102 times across all competitions and it is the Citizens who lead the overall head-to-head record having posted 42 wins to the Saints' 33, while there have also been 27 draws played out between the two clubs.
Their very first meeting took place back in February 1910 when Man City cruised to a 5-0 away victory over Southampton in the second round of the FA Cup. The Saints had to wait 16 years to get their revenge and win the very first league meeting between the two clubs by a thrilling 4-3 scoreline in the old Division Two.
Southampton and Man City regularly butted heads in the old Divisions One and Two in the 20th century, with the Saints having the greater share of success with 21 victories posted compared to the Citizens' 15 across a 52-game period.
The Saints also celebrated FA Cup success over City in that time, with Derek Reeves scoring four goals in a thumping 5-1 third-round victory at Maine Road, which still represents their biggest-ever win over the Citizens to date.
In the Premier League era (sine 1992-93), Southampton and Man City have faced each other 39 times in the top flight and the Citizens have dominated this fixture, particularly in more recent years, as they have won 23 games, while the Saints have come out on top only seven times.
Southampton won three of those matches in a row, all without reply, between March 2001 and May 2003, but since then, Man City have won 18 of their last 27 Premier League encounters with the Saints, scoring two or more goals on 15 of those occasions.
Man City's most recent defeat to Southampton was in the EFL Cup, a 2-0 loss at St Mary's in the fifth round, but they have since won their last two PL meetings - a 4-1 away win in April 2023 and a narrow 1-0 home victory in October 2024.
