Liverpool injury, suspension list for first game back

Sports Mole rounds up Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their first game back after lockdown - a Merseyside derby against Everton.

Liverpool will finally resume their march towards a first top-flight title in 30 years when the coronavirus-affected 2019-20 season resumes later this month.

Premier League bosses have confirmed their intention to begin playing again on June 17, with Liverpool returning to action for the Merseyside derby against Everton on the weekend of June 19-21.

Should results go their way earlier in the week then the Reds could clinch the Premier League title at Goodison Park - or at a neutral venue if the derby is moved due to safety concerns.

Jurgen Klopp's side currently sit 25 points clear of second-placed Manchester City and need only a six-point swing to be crowned kings of England for the first time since 1990.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up their latest injury and suspension news three weeks out from the derby.

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: Unknown

The extent of Xherdan Shaqiri's injury troubles have not yet been fully confirmed by Liverpool, but he has made just one matchday squad in 2020 so far and has not been spotted at the training ground since players returned, suggesting he is still yet to recover from his calf issue.

Nathaniel Clyne

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Even the three-month break has not proven to be enough time for Nathaniel Clyne to fully recover from his serious knee injury, which has kept him sidelined for the entire 2019-20 campaign so far.

LIVERPOOL'S SUSPENSION LIST

Liverpool have no players suspended for this match.
