Everton are reportedly in advanced discussions with Brighton & Hove Albion over a deal for Neal Maupay.
The 26-year-old's future has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks, with a number of clubs believed to be interested in his signature before the end of the transfer window.
However, according to Sky Sports News, Everton are now firmly at the head of the queue, with the Toffees hopeful that a deal will be agreed in the near future.
Maupay has scored 26 Premier League goals for the Seagulls since his arrival from Brentford, including eight in England's top flight last term.
The Frenchman is yet to play a minute of football for Graham Potter's side this season, though, amid the ongoing speculation surrounding his future.

Meanwhile, Fulham are reportedly in discussions with Paris Saint-Germain over a possible deal for Layvin Kurzawa.
The 29-year-old still has two years left to run on his contract in the French capital, but he is widely expected to depart before the end of the transfer window.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Fulham and PSG are in talks over the defender, with Marco Silva's side keen to sign him on a permanent deal.
Kurzawa joined his current team from Monaco in August 2015 and has represented them on 153 occasions in all competitions, contributing 14 goals and 23 assists in the process.
However, the Frenchman has not been involved for the Ligue 1 champions in the early stages of this season.

Elsewhere, Wolverhampton Wanderers are allegedly in talks with Velez Sarsfield over a potential deal for Maximo Perrone.
The 19-year-old, who is a defensive midfielder, has made 31 appearances for his current side in all competitions, contributing three goals and two assists in the process.
According to journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, Wolves are currently 'negotiating' a transfer for the teenager, and Bruno Lage's side are confident of securing his signature in the near future.
Perrone, who has been capped on one occasion by Argentina Under-20s, could reportedly move to Molineux once Velez's current season has concluded.

Meanwhile, former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has questioned the club's move for Casemiro.
The 30-year-old has now officially completed his transfer to the Red Devils and is in line to make his debut for the 20-time English champions in Saturday's clash with Southampton.
"Casemiro is a great player with pedigree, but he clearly wasn't the first choice pick otherwise United would have signed him in June," Yorke told Lord Ping.
"I don't think he is the type of player United need at the moment, but United aren't getting top targets through the door so I imagine they've been a bit creative and signed the best player they could.
"United used to be able to pick the best players in Europe, but Man City and Liverpool are more attractive clubs these days.
"Not qualifying for the Champions League, not playing expansive and flamboyant football, has contributed to United missing out on players."
Casemiro was presented as a Man United player on Monday and trained with his teammates for the first time on Thursday ahead of the clash with Southampton.
