Result: Brentford edge out Crystal Palace

Moses Odubajo helps Brentford beat Premier League Crystal Palace 3-2 at Griffin Park in their final pre-season friendly before the start of their Championship campaign.

Brentford edged out Crystal Palace 3-2 in a thrilling pre-season friendly which saw five goals in 20 minutes at Griffin Park.

The Bees squandered a great chance to go ahead of their Premier League opponents in the opening period when Andre Gray found himself five yards out, but fired his effort well over Wayne Hennessey's bar.

Despite the home side having the better of the play for much of the first half, it wasn't until the beginning of the second period that the Championship outfit got their reward when Jonathan Douglas rounded Scott Dann and fired past substitute keeper Julian Speroni.

Mark Warburton's men doubled their advantage seven minutes later when Gray, a summer signing from Luton Town, atoned for his earlier miss by finding the back of the Palace net.

The Eagles found an immediate response when first Glenn Murray and then Marouane Chamakh scored to get the visitors back on level terms within two minutes of falling 2-0 down.

However, it was Brentford who were back in front when promising youngster Moses Odubajo showed vision and good close control before beating Speroni.

The Bees, who begin their Championship campaign next weekend against Charlton Athletic, were able to hold on to the delight of the majority inside Griffin Park.
