Previous meetings: 20

Draws: 6
Brentford wins: 7

Ipswich Town and Brentford have faced each other a total of 20 times across all competitions and both teams have come out on top seven times, while there have also been six draws played out over the years.

Their very first meeting took place back in November 1955 when Brentford secured a 3-2 home win over Ipswich in the old Division Three South, but the Bees followed that up by failing to win any of their next eight encounters with the Tractor Boys in all competitions.

Indeed, Ipswich won four EFL Cup ties during this period between 1966 and 2004, three in the first round and one in the second round, before the two teams would meet again for the first time in the Championship in the 2014-15 season.

Brentford suffered a 4-2 home defeat to Ipswich in their first Championship encounter in December 2014, but that was only one of two defeats suffered across 10 matches in the second tier (W4 D4).

The Tractor Boys lost 2-0 at Brentford in April 2019 before suffering relegation to the third tier that season, but they bounced back with successive promotions in 2022-23 and 2023-24 to return to the Premier League for the first time in over two decades.

Ipswich and Brentford lock horns in the top flight for the first time in October 2024 and it was the Bees who came out on top in a seven-goal thriller, winning 4-3 at the Getch Community Stadium, before Thomas Frank's side secured a narrow 1-0 win in the reverse fixture at Portman Road in May 2025.
