Wolves transfer news: Interested in Brazilian star described as "very premature"

Wolverhampton Wanderers are allegedly yet to make any significant progress in their efforts to sign a Brazilian star this summer.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly yet to make any progress in their efforts to sign Corinthians attacker Yuri Alberto.

While Wolves are currently preparing to try to end a three-match losing streak on the final day of the 2024-25 Premier League, they are already planning how to approach the summer transfer market.

With Matheus Cunha expected to sign for Manchester United within the next two weeks, the likely £62.5m generated from that deal can be allocated to additions.

Alberto is a long-standing target for Wolves having been linked with a switch to Molineux during the previous two transfer windows.

That is a consequence of his outstanding stint in the colour of Corinthians where he has contributed 70 goals and 19 assists from 182 appearances in all competitions.

Agent provides Yuri Alberto update

However, it appears that Wolves are yet to start a sustained effort to acquire the 24-year-old's services ahead of the market reopening in June.

As per journalist Jorge Nicola, via Bolavip, any talk of Alberto eventually moving to the West Midlands is "very premature".

Nicola quoted a chat with agent Andre Cury, saying: "I spoke with Andre Cury, and he assures me that there is no official proposal.

"At this moment, there are only preliminary talks seeking information. According to Andre, everything is very premature."

The same outlet suggests that interest in Alberto is expected to increase during June and July, with Corinthians expected to fight hard to retain the services of one of their star men.

Pereira 'requests' Alberto

With Cunha on his way out, Pereira requires a suitable replacement, and it is suggested that he has specifically requested that Wolves push for Alberto.

The pair are no strangers to each other with Pereira being in charge of Corinthians during Alberto's first season in 2022, where he netted 11 times in 28 games.

Alberto's versatility in the final third will also be favoured by Pereira, although it is yet to be determined what asking price may be placed on his signature.

Although he is expected to receive widespread interest, Wolves have a considerable Portuguese-speaking contingent and that can only provide them with an advantage.
