Barcelona injury, suspension news vs. Villarreal: Ronald Araujo, Ferran Torres, Jules Kounde, Marc Bernal updates

Sports Mole looks at Barcelona's injury and suspension news ahead of their La Liga clash with Villarreal.

Fresh from being crowned La Liga champions for the 2024-25 campaign, Barcelona will play their penultimate match of the season against Villarreal on Sunday night.

Barcelona secured the championship with two games to spare courtesy of their 2-0 success over Espanyol on Thursday night.

Hansi Flick's side therefore have two pressure-free contests to end the campaign, although Villarreal are looking to secure a top-five finish in the table, which would bring Champions League football next term.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Barcelona's injury and suspension news ahead of their clash with Villarreal, who will enter the match off the back of four straight victories in Spain's top flight.

Marc Bernal

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Bernal suffered an ACL injury against Rayo Vallecano in the league earlier this term, with the youngster working to be ready for pre-season ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

Jules Kounde

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: May 24 (vs. Athletic Bilbao)

Kounde was forced off the field with a hamstring injury during the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Inter Milan, and the France international will again miss out this weekend, but he could be back for the team's final match of the season.

Ferran Torres

Status: Out
Type of injury: Appendicitis
Possible return date: Unknown

On Wednesday evening, Barcelona revealed that Torres had undergone an operation after suffering with appendicitis, and the Spain international will therefore not be seen in a Barcelona shirt again until next season.

Ronald Araujo

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: May 18 (vs. Villarreal)

Araujo was forced off in the early stages of the second period against Espanyol with a muscular problem, and the centre-back is therefore a major doubt for the clash with Villarreal this weekend.

BARCELONA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Barcelona have no players suspended for the clash with Villarreal.
