Barcelona attacker Ferran Torres will miss the end of the 2024-25 campaign after undergoing an appendix operation on Wednesday night.
The Catalan giants confirmed that the surgery had been successful, with Torres's recovery already beginning, but the Spain international will not feature in any of Barcelona's last three La Liga matches of the season.
"Ferran Torres underwent surgery tonight for appendicitis, which was successful. The operation was carried out by Drs. Coroleu and Borras at the Hospital de Barcelona, under the supervision of the Club's Medical Services," read a statement from the club.
Torres has enjoyed a standout campaign for Barcelona, scoring 19 times and registering seven assists in 45 appearances in all competitions, including 10 goals and six assists in 27 fixtures in Spain's top flight.
The forward will miss Thursday's La Liga clash against Espanyol, which could begin the team's title celebrations, with a victory required in the Catalan derby to secure the championship with two games to spare.
Barcelona will then conclude their domestic campaign with matches against Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao.

Barca forward Torres will miss the end of the campaign
According to SPORT, there is a chance that Torres could be back for Spain's UEFA Nations League semi-final against France on June 5, but a decision will not be made until closer to the time.
La Roja head coach Luis de la Fuente will confirm his squad for the semi-finals on May 26, and it is possible that Torres will be included and then potentially withdrawn depending on how his recovery progresses.
Barcelona will also be without the services of Inigo Martinez for Thursday's game against Espanyol, with the experienced defender suspended, while Marc Bernal and Jules Kounde remain unavailable for selection.
However, Pablo Torre and Marc Casado have been included in the squad after recovering from knee problems, and there is also a spot for Ansu Fati amid the speculation surrounding his future.

Barcelona can win La Liga on Thursday night
Barcelona were seconds away from winning the La Liga title on Wednesday night, with Real Madrid scoring a last-gasp second against Mallorca to move to within four points of the La Liga leaders.
However, a victory for Barcelona in the Catalan derby would confirm their position as champions for the 2024-25 campaign.
