Wolverhampton Wanderers finally confirm that they have signed Fluminense winger Jhon Arias in a reported £18m transfer.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed that they have signed Fluminense winger Jhon Arias.

For a number of weeks, the Premier League club have been linked with the Colombia international, who has spent his career in South America.

From Thursday night onwards, it has been clear that the 27-year-old was making the switch to Molineux having waved goodbye to the Fluminense supporters and publicly revealed why he was signing for Wolves.

With a visa having been secured, the West Midlands outfit revealed on Thursday morning that they had finalised a deal for the playmaker.

As revealed in the club's social media video, Arias will wear the number 10 shirt at Wolves, taking over from Matheus Cunha who has left to join Manchester United.

Arias has agreed to a four-year contract which comes with the option of an extra 12 months, Wolves having allegedly paid in the region of £18m to get a deal over the line.

After arriving at Fluminense in 2021, Arias made a total of 230 appearances in all competitions, contributing 47 goals and 55 assists.

He departs as a club legend having also helped the club to the Copa Libertadores crown in 2023.

More recently, he has chipped in with four goals and 13 assists from 35 games during 2025, his last strike coming in the recent Club World Cup as Fluminense made the semi-finals before losing to Chelsea.

Arias to become first choice at Wolves?

Not only has Arias taken Cunha's shirt number but he is expected to replace the Brazilian in one of two number 10 roles in Vitor Pereira's 3-4-2-1 formation.

He reunites with a couple of familiar faces in Yerson Mosquera, who he knows from Colombia duty, and Andre, a former player of Fluminense.

Those factors have naturally played their part in Arias moving to the club, allegedly resulting in Cristiano Ronaldo being snubbed in the process.
