Bayern Munich have reportedly added Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola to their list of left-winger targets.
The Bavarians reclaimed their Bundesliga crown in 2024-25, comfortably seeing past rivals Bayer Leverkusen to win their 12th title in 13 seasons.
Boss Vincent Kompany will look to strengthen his side in the summer in a bid to hold off their domestic challengers, and also advance further in the Champions League.
However, with Florian Wirtz seemingly destined to join Liverpool, the club look as if they have missed out on a priority target in the forward line.
Reports suggest that Bayern have acted quickly to identify alternatives, with transfer expert Florian Plettenberg claiming that Barcola is the team's top target, though others such as Nico Williams. Kaoru Mitoma and Rafael Leao have also been considered.
Barcola assessed
Barcola has not always found it easy to get starts in PSG’s biggest games given he competed with Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for a place in the front three.
The 22-year-old did not start the Champions League final, or the first legs against Aston Villa and Arsenal in the quarter-finals and semi-finals respectively.
Barcola still enjoyed a strong season in France, scoring 21 goals and providing 18 assists in all competitions, and his 39 goal involvements was more than any Bayern player managed last term bar striker Harry Kane (50).
The Frenchman’s biggest strength is his ability to consistently stretch opposition defences, with his speed proving to be a powerful tool for PSG against high-line defences.
With the departure of Leroy Sane imminent due to the expiry of his contract, signing another forward should be seen as an urgent priority.
It is easy to see how the winger would complement the Bavarians’ attacking line considering Michael Olise and Jamal Musiala both prefer to receive the ball to feet, while Barcola is at his best when played in behind backlines.
