Coventry City are once again nursing the pain of another heartbreaking Championship play-off exit. Last season saw the Sky Blues put together a determined campaign, racking up 69 points from 46 games to finish fifth, with 20 wins, nine draws and 17 defeats, only to see their Premier League dream slip away in the dying moments of a tense semi-final against Sunderland, losing 3-2 on aggregate.

However, there is a real sense of belief around the Coventry Building Society Arena. Frank Lampard, who arrived mid-season and quickly turned the team from relegation strugglers into serious promotion contenders, has brought fresh energy and purpose.

Lampard will be looking to challenge for promotion again in the coming season, and Coventry have managed to make two eye-catching signings during this summer's transfer window.

Indeed, talented left-back Miguel Angel Brau has arrived on a free transfer from Granada, while Kaine Kesler-Hayden has boosted the opposite side of the defence with a switch from Aston Villa; it has been a case of quality and not quantity for the club thus far this summer.

Five players have also left on free transfers, but there are expected to be more incomings and outgoings before the summer window closes for business.

Coventry are working towards the start of their 2025-26 Championship campaign, with their season beginning at home to Hull City on August 9.

The team will then immediately switch their attention to the League Cup and a contest with Luton Town, before finishing the month of August with Championship clashes against Derby County and Oxford United.
