West Ham United and Argentina midfielder Manuel Lanzini walks away from a 'life-threatening' car crash unscathed, according to a report.

West Ham United midfielder Manuel Lanzini has reportedly been involved in a 'life-threatening' car crash, but has walked away from the incident unscathed.

It is understood that the 29-year-old was travelling back to the Hammers' Rush Green training complex, having returned from international duty with Argentina.

According to The Sun, Lanzini was being chauffeur-driven in a Mercedes people carrier before the vehicle flipped over on the A12 this afternoon.

The report adds that firefighters and the police were called to the scene, but the midfielder has walked away from the crash unscathed.

A source commenting on the incident said: "It's a miracle he's alive, from what I've heard. This was an incredibly near miss and could have killed Lanzini and the driver.

"It's common for West Ham players to use a chauffeur service – especially for those who live in town.

"They were on a dual carriageway so it could have caused complete carnage. Just goes to show, it doesn't matter how much cash you have – we're all just as vulnerable to a smash like this. Thank goodness he was okay."

It remains to be seen whether Lanzini will be available for West Ham's Premier League fixture at home against Everton on Sunday.
