Brentford boss Thomas Frank reportedly edges closer to Tottenham Hotspur, a Bayern Munich star addresses his future and Newcastle United are said to be targeting a new goalkeeper.

Brentford have reportedly set their sights on Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna as a replacement for Tottenham Hotspur target Thomas Frank, the latest reports have claimed.

Spurs ended the 2024-25 campaign on a triumphant note, winning the Europa League against Manchester United in May and qualifying for the Champions League.

However, with news that Tottenham Hotspur have parted company with head coach Ange Postecoglou, supporters are pondering who could succeed the Australian.

Brentford boss Frank has been linked with the vacant managerial position at Spurs, and he has showcased his adaptability during his time with the Bees.

Football Insider claim that Brentford have identified Ipswich Town manager McKenna as their desired target should Frank depart amid reports that the latter could soon make the switch to Spurs.

Joao Palhinha future

Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha has insisted that he could leave Bayern Munich if he does not receive assurances about playing time.

The Bavarians won the Bundesliga title in 2024-25, reclaiming their crown after watching Bayer Leverkusen win the league in the 2023-24 season.

Boss Vincent Kompany will no doubt look to revamp his squad further in the summer transfer window in order to push for more silverware next term, with midfielder Palhinha a candidate to leave.

The Portuguese only arrived at the Allianz last summer from Fulham, but speaking to journalist Patrick Berger, the 29-year-old said that he would only remain at the club if he was given chances in the team, saying: "I still have three years left on my contract here at Bayern. I have to talk to the coach and sporting director about whether I'll get my chance here. If not, then we'll see”.

Palhinha started just nine times in all competitions last season, and with the World Cup approaching next year, it would not be surprising if he left in search of more minutes in order to be sharp for the tournament.

Nick Pope replacement

Newcastle United are reported to be pushing to sign Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford as a replacement for Nick Pope this summer.

The Toon narrowly avoided missing out on the Champions League in matchweek 38 of the 2024-25 Premier League season, with the club's loss against Everton on May 25 mitigated by Aston Villa's defeat against Manchester United on the same day.

Having secured their place in Europe's Premier club competition, manager Eddie Howe will be keen to strengthen his squad and push towards the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool.

One area that he could look to upgrade on is in goal given current number one Nick Pope is 33 years old, and it would not be surprising to see the Englishman's performance levels decline as he ages.

The Times report that Newcastle hope that a bid in the region of £25-30m will be enough to pry away Burnley shot-stopper Trafford, who kept 29 clean sheets in 45 Championship appearances in 2024-25.
